About the Elders

The Melanesian Elders are those individual elders and families, clans and ethnic groups that already have special attention and focus on Melanesian issues, and already taking steps towards a Future Melanesia.

The Melanesian Elders will be selected by Wewo Kotokay and his core team members from each clan or ethnic group across Melanesia.

Melanesian Council of Elders function as the modern “Haus Man” (Men’s House) of Melanesian peoples.

Melanesian Council of Elders represent families, clans, ethnic groups, spirits, plants, animals, mater, and lanscapes or seascapes that each elder represent. They can spread their voices and opinions either individually or collectively and speak to all Melanesian tribes.

The elders will be appointed primarily based on encounter with Wewo Kotokay, as the “Kotokay” was anointed by Council of Tribes in Vanuatu in 2004, approved by tribespeoples in Ireland (2007), and appointed by the Koteka Tribal Assembly in West Papua (2000).

The elders will me at least once a year, but they can also meet more than once a year or once in two years, depending on needs and invitations.

The Melanesian Council of Elders will meet both physically but also primarily we will promote Online Meeting to make the meetings continue from time to time at almost no cost.

The main task of the Melanesian Council of Elders is to keep the “Spirit of Melanesia” in psychological terms burn and expand across Melanesia; and in  “Spirits in Melanesia” in theological terms

The elders will physically meet in Wamena (West Papua), Goroka (PNG), and Tanna (Vanuatu). These places can be changed in the future.

Melanesian Council of Elders are organised in Melanesian Way, every elder is the top leader of every family, clan, ethnic group, region, country, they all stand and speak equally.
